reddit, twitter, stupid annoying user interfaces

Recommended Posts

Just worked out why I keep accidentally being taken back to the contents page when viewing reddit. The new redesign highlights the thread you are viewing, but the contents page is sort of faded out but visible at the sides and i keep accidentally clicking it instead of the scroll bars. Twitter has the same sort of thing. Bloody annoying. Bloody stupid. Ive got a back button if I want to go back to the contents page.

I remember when Digg changed their UI and everyone went to reddit, which I personally have always hated. Not just for the design but the sanctimonious people on there. Not really relevant, I just hate reddit.

I'd agree in principle, however part of the point is you can pick and choose what you are subscribed to.

Personally, I only ever browse individual sub-reddits at a time, things I'm interested in. You will usually find that there is an alternative to each one, with a slightly different subset of people.

Yeah, the general uk subs on reddit are depressingly stereotypical sjw, but it is interesting to see into the bubble from time to time. The level of debate is mostly name calling.

There are some impressive bits. The syrian war was far better documented than any mainstream media (although I've lost interest in it now).

The smaller subs can vary a lot with the membership. Ukpolitics was actually faintly right wing before the referendum, but it seems to have been repopulated by lefty sjw's.

I also got some really useful advice on running.

Aslo, the easiest  place to see what they are discussing in other countries, with the caveat that you are again mostly looking at young sjw posters.

r/europe is unexpectedly anti-immigrant.
