Yep it did piss me off a bit when the So-Called BBC kept showing a Somali gleefully tossing away a tyre ( make shift life jacket) into the sea on arrival at a European beach. S%%t that would be a big fine here, but it was all overlooked and part of the heroic symbolic arrival.

We are anal about litter at my resort. It’s literally a beacon of litter-free land amongst Asian detritus.

When Japanese guests are due to arrive, it is true to say that an extra zeal has to be instilled in staff to clear up, they will literally go bonkers.

Yes they could have been made to start the way they should be expected to carry on.

Get with the extreme bureaucracy sort of thing - but the authorities will do everything possible to avoid discouraging them.  They can always blame the indigenous when the tyre washes up on the beach.

The only graffiti I ever saw in Japan was written on a poster on a billboard. Whoever had written it had clearly run out of space but made a point of not running over onto the frame or any other part that would be hard to clean!
