And won't it MASSIVELY improve the quality of life for that 100 million.

20% more green spaces, 20% less traffic, cheaper houses.

I would guess not particularly if the die-off is concentrated in the countryside. Also there is the question of who will look after the aging population (could be partly done by robots maybe).

I don’t see that either. They’ll presumably turn up in quantity once there are few enough Japanese under the age of 70 to man the barricades and fight them off.

No, how about you stay as healthy as possible into your old age and then do the noble thing and top yourself when you feel it getting bad?

Carousel is the only answer!

Tentacle porn is to blame.

I'm not googling that to confirm it's a thing.

All I can say is lucky Japanese, imagine if we had a similar % reduction in population? They'll have carer robots to wipe the oldies arses.

No little nips if you only get your rocks off with a cephalopod.

though an eight legged robot might be the answer, 1 to wipe your arse, 1 to count out your pills etc

127 million people live in Japan today. On current trends that will fall to 100 million in 35 years time. That’s one helluva drop!

Yes and it’s a staggering thing - drop of 50m over next 50 years or something.  It will be a fascinating social experiment to observe.

You don't need so many teachers, construction workers, policemen etc that are needed to service a young and growing population

Bulgaria has dropped from 9 to 7 million and is projected to go down to around 5 million. I think other eastern europeans are similar. I dont think they like it, but it doesn't seem to be the end of the world.

Please say you haven't bought an Oculus!

Oh do keep up; I mentioned my VR wanks in another topic.

I bought an Oculus Go; the new mobile headset you can get for about £200. I'm not a big gamer so didn't want to have to shell out a lot on a gaming PC and a rift; but this allowed me to try VR on the cheap.

I'm too slow, I missed that. I suspect VR wanks may be on the contributory factors to the Japanese demographic issue.

Think how a population decrease of the same proportion in the UK would improve life in our country. Fewer cars causing congestion on the roads, trains with enough capacity. The pace of concreting over our countryside would slow.

I'm sure it would be beneficial for most of us.

I think the Japanese are different in that they tend to look after each other.

Stick a load of old people in a commune and by and large it would function quite happily as they would all support each other.

The Chinese are similar.

The problem is the attitude the UK has and the way the government has fucked up everything.

Old people don't want to  go into so called care homes as while they a copos mentis  they view them as somewhere they would rather be dead than entering.

Care homes and people wiping your arse after you have sat in a wet nappy in front of daytime TV all day should be optional as it is verging on an abuse of human rights.

Have seen relatives turn into empty shells through dementia kept alive for years in between hospitals and care homes who if they had known they would have ended up there would have rather chucked themselves in the river whilst they were able to.

100% fewer terrorist attacks than the UK.
