Yeah lovely house but would have to do something about that glass floor.

For sure, but wouldn't have quite the same effect.  We used to have a dark corridor and hated it, ended up rearranging rooms upstairs to make better space and put  in a new stairwell. Hell of a lot of work but worth it for the overall improvement.
