STIs, what are the real risks in 2018?

Recommended Posts

This is all probably wildly optimistic on my part, but I've been associating recently with a young single party girl who's most likely "been about a bit" from what I've heard. I also notice she has one of those subcutaneous contraceptive implants in her upper arm. The question is, in the event one night under the influence of drink, drugs, a full moon, conjunction of planets (whatever), I was to "get lucky" what are my chances of coming away with something nasty? I speak as a man who has been off the market for ~20 years and who has never so much as contracted crabs up to this point. The ex-wife did have a recurrent cold sore problem which I never managed to catch which I'm hoping means I'm immune to oral Herpes. What else do I have to worry about?

Probably quite high, I mean at the end of the day if this "lady" were to sleep with a random 60 year old...

There are quite a few STI's to worry about. Google images will probably inform you quite well. Turn off safe search for added effect.

The only person on here who is recounting current tales of sexual activity outside a LTR is @The Idiocrat (or at least he's the only one I can think of).

So this may not be the best forum for the OP's question!

My rule used to be wrap up warm for anything penetrative, for oral accept the risk.

However I do know someone who came badly unstuck using that rule (got a nasty dose of herpes all over face, in mouth, throat, the lot).

If you stay away from non-whites, and quiz whether your partner has slept with non-whites, your risks go down substantially if you are in North America or the UK.

Probably racist, but true.  Can't be arsed to find the infection stats for african-americans vs whites and hispanics but they are pretty daming.

Do not take risks in this department, ever.

Yeah but Brazilian mulattas like the one shown here are the best, TONA is looking to have fun and broaden his life experience.

AND unlike European women they don't mind you being older, in fact sometimes prefer this.(though it would probably help if he was a bit heavier and more well-to-do looking)

AND they will play the illusion game of pretending they think you're brilliant which he seems to need/like.

But he should use a false name and organise a rescue party in advance as he'll be in no fit state to escape on his own, and should wrap up.

I wouldn't worry generally, unless professional sex workers or full on junkies. The risks are pretty low for young middle class girls in England otherwise. She is not going to be high risk because she likes the odd E (unless she goes to gay clubs to pick up bi-men, very rare).

In fact the conscious decision to have a contraceptive implant, probably suggests she is at least somewhat risk averse (or at least risk aware) when it comes to sexual health.

I thought the expected was to both get sti test before unprotected if lots of past partners.

Only friend Ive known to get an STI was because boyfriend was bi and cheating on her with men. She didn't seek him out in a gay bar, they met at work

Cheek! I don't share my tales of extreme sexual prowess on here as nobody would believe me.

I don't share my own tales of extreme sexual prowess on here as there aren't any.

This is the sexiest thing I have ever heard.

I know, right?

I'd have followed up with a graph but if I'd have done that then I think the post could actually be classed as pornography.

Only have sex within a loving committed relationship. With evidence of consent before, during and after.
Wrap yourself up well.

Unfashionable and "boring" though it is, this remains just about the best advice going, on all sorts of levels, not just STIs.

Maybe, but it would really reduce your chances of enjoying a cocaine and absinthe fuelled threesome with a pair of beautiful callgirls.

Fortune favours the bold.

You'll probably be fine..  I'd be more worried about knocking her up.

Most STI's can be cured with strong antibiotics..  might just mean a couple weeks discomfort and an embarrassing trip to the GUM clinic.
