dgul 6,164 Posted September 13, 2018 Yup -- that's because Brown's just an idiot, albeit one responsible for many of the country's ills. He's not the one with the picture in the attic.

He does have a picture in the attic, but there’s only so much the Devil will allow his picture to absorb. If Gordo wasn’t such an evil prick he would still look like a teenager. Fuck knows how bad his picture is, it must be grotesque beyond grotesqueness.

swiss_democracy_for_all 7,009 Posted September 13, 2018 It's the guilt IMO. He can't possibly not know what he's done, after all he's reputed to have high intelligence (difficult as that may be to believe). Imagine having socialist principles, and going into your declining years knowing that all you did when in power betrayed all of those principles and all the people you were meant to represent, and helped all the people who you thought were your enemies. He can do maths. He knows what's coming. He knows he's going down in history as the worst ever chancellor and the worst ever PM, and he knows now there's nothing he can do about it.

Browns budgets always fell into the baffle them with bullshit rather than blind them with brilliance category. Still, the beeb lapped it up. I think Browns 'popularity' (if it even gets to that level) is due to labour wanting a kind of statesman, wise old man character. Clearly Bliar, the warmongering zio-bot neocon can't be that, and the previous labour leaders are either dead or Kinnock. So Brown is all thats left.

twocents 5,847 Posted September 14, 2018 (edited) They just keep wheeling them out. It doesn't help Britain but then few if any mainstream politicians do. The established and well known doom mongers haven't really been right so far - or at least not to the extent that they predicted. Although there's been a lot of political turmoil and manipulation of statistics and reckless and insane policies such as mass immigration along with the ban on free speech etc which has resulted in a similar mood and feeling to what you might expect during a serious economic collapse. I doubt he will be a trigger for anything and in fact with his track record a bit of a manipulated statistical boom might suddenly happen which might be the excuse they need to raise interest rates to give themselves some room for the next serious downturn. PeptoAbysmal 412 Posted September 19, 2018 If losing all of your depositors money on dodgy loans and investments comes with a pat on the back and an £800,000 per year pension, why would anyone in the banking industry aim for just mediocrity.

SillyBilly 878 Posted September 19, 2018 I don't think you become PM without the ego to boot. I bet he thinks he did a great job. And that the current solution to any ill is doubling down of what he did do.
