Was Micheal Foot a soviet agent?

Recommended Posts

A new book repeats the claim that Foot worked for the soviets and that he "had been used for “disinformation purposes” and received the equivalent of £37,000 in today’s money".

Michael Who ? will probably be the response from most people under 35.

You might as well ask whether Lenin was an agent of the Kaisars Germany which is probably a more interesting question.

I was thinking that.  But then I thought that Foot wouldn't have been capable of much, and that even that money would have been wasted.

Both Michael Foot and Harold Wilson then - and the rest.  Take your pick from any in the gang of LibLabCon since records began.

So far as Foot is concerned is that what they call a revelation these days.  Even when he was alive I don't think he denied that sort of accusation particularly strenuously.

What about the Conservative party taking Russian money.  How about quoting a security service number in headlining about that.

Agents don't just work for intelligence agencies for reasons of political ideology so anyone who imagines all Soviet spies were on the left of the Labour Party is being incredibly naive. The KGB would have tried to infiltrate all areas of public life including the Conservative party.

Kim Philby was establishment to his fingertips being the son of a diplomat who was educated at Westminster Public school and Trinity College Cambridge. He managed to betray hundreds of people who were subsequently killed while still being welcome at White's Club in St James.

In case anyone has not noticed the Soviet Union ceased to exist nearly 30 years ago. Some people in politics, the media and the British intelligence agencies have clearly never got over that event

A lot if the cold war spies fell into the Nazis or.. where or was Russia - or do they thought.

The same sort of Im cleverer than the plebs, know whats best has moved on from Comms v Caps to political economists who show similar fuckheaded ideas and cluelessnes.

Foot was not above playing away from his wife. He had a number of mistresses including Leila Pasha who he managed to pull at the age of 58. She was hot stuff if Foots account of the affair is to be believed. Maybe he was just another spawny get

It's amazing how Kinnock got away without the soviet smear and he very nearly reached power - he just got the clown smear but went on to seniority in the totalitarian eu and supported Blair so if anyone did massive damage to Britain it was him - consequently one of the most unsuspected soviet moles.

When the Berlin wall came down Western researchers flocked to find out who the Western born KGB spies in the West were. Very few were revealed.

IIRC one prominent West German politician was exposed but where were the rest? Were there no others? Or were they protected? Still in place?

Doubt there were any sleeper agents, poison umbrellas, the whole lot in retrospect I would strongly suspect was mostly wibble.

The constant smearing of Wilson was his keeping Britain out of Vietnam. I suspect he was lucky to leave office without a hillwalking incident or in those days victim of an IRA attack.

Went to Berlin a short time after the wall came down. I was there to fix one of our (crashed) servers at Treuhand. Remember the incredible atmosphere and I was in a taxi actually seeing all the buildings from the photos in my O-level History textbook. The taxi driver said we're now driving through Checkpoint Charlie it's amazing to think only a short time ago we would have been shot at by both sides if we tried.

Didn't meet any spies just got shouted at as usual by customer.

What actually happened was that I had brought with me the manufacturer's support CD with patches on, then just installed the patch which fixed their problem. Took about five minutes. Work would never have bought me a subscription to the CD, they expected miracles on no budget,  and I only got it at all because I had a mate. Customer practically went down on their knees would I leave the CD with them (you didn't have CD writers to copy in those days) but had to say no as it was literally worth its weight in gold. All this penny-pinching crap against a backdrop of one of the most significant events in my lifetime, feels weird.

He clearly never spent any of the cash on clothes, the trampy looking old bugger.

Apparently Jill Craigie ,Foot's wife,  suspected her husband was having an affair with Leila Pasha when he started taking a lot of perfumed baths and brought a brand new set of trendy clothes rather than the shabby old tat he normally wore. A bit of a give away really for someone like him . She was less than half his age too, the dirty old bugger

Worzel Gummidge was an idiot in many ways but he did genuinely seem to dislike totalitarians and to actually like Britain so my guess is that he wasn’t a Soviet agent of any sort although he certainly would have talked to them. It’s worth remembering that he supported the Falklands war whereas that cunt Corbyn, for example, was fully in favour of handing the islands over to a fascist dictatorship and hanging the islanders out to dry.

For all kinnocks fsults - most becsme spparent as he got on the eu hasbeen millionaire train - he was not trying to undermine country or bring in communism.

Kinnocks origins were very much mining workers collective.

Place was fucked, had been since pretty much the 70s where it bdcame obvious to the inhabitents that the whole communusm was a fucked solution.

. Obvious if people had actually bothered to sit down and chat with Joe Notintheparty.
