Children should be allowed to make mistakes.

Ok, so she's still in her teens, but some nobody has been made a somebody by Big Brother, and now they're casting her into the pit of racist doom, just because of a few tweets she made when she was 15.

I think kids have it hard enough, without having to worry about a few ill-considered words online coming back to bite them.  IMO it should be illegal to criticise online behaviour posted under the age of 18.

[I also note she's from Glasgow.  I quite like Glasgow, or at least the nice bits are nice -- but I'd suggest that if the worst you can dig up about a Glaswegian is calling someone a Paki when they were 15 then they're probably an angel.]

Imagine what it will be like if Twitter still exists in a generation?

If Twitter had existed in the 70s then a lot of luvvies would be banged up as paedos and millions would have been reported to South Yorkshire police.

Clearly not.  Yet it appears that people are allowed to call me Taffy (etc), even though I'm not actually from that part of Wales (not a Gog either).  There seems to be a strange double-standard operating.

I'd have thought that the younger demographic wouldn't care about such things, but it seems that they're the ones baying for blood.  Perhaps they'll grow up and consider 'the past to be a different country', which, for the most part, it should be.

Can if you are american.

Frankly I don't see the problem...she called all Paki's Terrorists...well, maybe not all, but the vast majority believe in a religion that calls for Jihad, and of them, many are Deobandis, an explicitly islamist sect, of which the Taliban were one offshoot.

I doubt she knew how right she was.

No one would object if I called Nazis anti-semites. Even though not all were...Schindler for example. I don't see why one kooky ideology (Islam) should be granted any special dispensations Nazism is not.

The only difference is 1) Islam is followed by mostly brown people, who are exempt from the same moral expectations of whites, and 2)their numbers and clout has grown so large we daren't object. The tolerance, even slavish embrace of Islam is down to our own (understandable) cowardice.

There is no objective reason to treat Islam any differently to Nazism.

I do feel sorry for youngsters today.  I could say what I liked when I was younger because I wasn't publishing it.

These days all this online stuff is being recorded and any whiff of fame and the press are going to go straight to it for the dirt.

There was a young woman made to step down from being a junior police commissioner, in Kent I think, for some tweets when she was sixteen praising getting drunk and IIRC drug references.

Per dgul's post there is no leeway, no acceptance the everyone makes mistakes even if they're not recorded.

Change Islam to Wahhabism / Salafism and Deobandism (and a few others) and there is a great deal of similarity with Nazism.

Rather sadly, it is probably highly racist to suggest this.  Probably because KSA holds so much power in the west.

[If there is one country we should cease all relations with it is KSA.  I do know why we don't (power of big oil, along with the military-industrial complex) and it makes me sick]

you dont your told what to think,

I saw this programme when my daughter was about 6 weeks old.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3913932/Is-child-confident-dandelion-shy-orchid.html

Is your child like a sensitive Orchids who can only flourish in the right environment, or a hardy Dandelion, confident enough to thrive in any situation?

Now I don't want my daughter to be a tearaway. She needs to learn right from wrong and she needs some appreciation of mortality but I don't want to wrap her in cotton wool and make her scared of her own shadow. She will learn by doing (and has some bumps and bruises to show for it). If she asks for guidance (or I think that she needs some) then she will get it. I will not allow modern society to dictate her behaviour to a great extent.

Welll .. statistically they are either on benefits, taxi driver/paedos or terrorists.

Those really cover 95% of uk pakistanis.

Show me some numbers showing otherwise and ill change my opinion.

Deobandism IS wahabism.

Just in shorter, simple sentences  and pictures so the inbred mipuris can grasp it.

I'd go so far as criticising the words of a 15 year old should be treated as abuse, even if the author is now an adult.

Child porn is child porn, even if the victim has grown up.

Yes, what are these adults doing reading a child's webpages. It sounds like stalking to me.

This might sound Jonathan Pie like, but the thing is we're going to have a new generation of anti-PC voters that want to smash up the system as more and more people that find things offensive. This will create greater demand for anti-PC politicians, such as those called Trump. We're creating a rod for our own back.
