I knew nothing of Ali until the news just broke that a lady in County Hallway has died. Was inside a caravan that was blown off a cliff.

Knew nothing either.  Power cut now (NI).  Did the met office downplay this one as the "big" one earlier this year didn't cause and many outages.

Probably the first time in history that a caravan owner has been blown off.

Pretty wild day at the moment, normal winter storm

Not sure naming storm and giving it an amber warning adds much as people are generally idiots

Just saw a guy wearing shorts and a t shirt walking outside the office window

Here it's certainly still warm.  It may look like autumn with grey skies and the trees whipping about in the wind but it's not cold.

I went walking in a short sleeved shirt yesterday lunchtime amongst people in coats with hoods up.  They are loooking at the weather out of their window and deeming it to be cold when it isn't.

That guy is probably the only one there dressed correctly for the temperature.

14 degrees and blowing a gale

Definately not a day for summer gear

Surely it's racist to suggest that something with a Muslim name could cause death and mayhem across the UK?

Are we expecting to see live reporting from the So-Called BBC in conjunction with South Yorks Police?

It is the Irish Met Office who choose the name of these storms I believe.

I thought our last one was somewhere around the N or M wasn't it - how did we get back to A so quickly. How well did Zaphod Beetlebox do.

Oi! I'm not finished with summer yet!

It's still summer. Autumn starts in a few days.

It was the remnants of the US hurricane apparently.
