Germany, a country of non-entities

Recommended Posts

My son has to do a presentation on a German personality (living) for his homework... but there is virtually no-one.

I suggested Frauke Petry but after the UKIP boy in the UK got a detention I think my son would get something similar, or worse.

So we're left with Merkin (who he doesn't want to), Schumacher (vegetable) and Boris Becker and that's about it.

What a pathetic country that produced the likes of Max Planck, Bismarck, Goethe, Bach, Guthenburg, Otto Hahn and Hitler !

If you take out pop stars, sports stars, politicians, TV personalities and actors then I'd struggle to name an eminent Brit.

Popular culture has changed and halfwits like Joey Essex are the new gods of it.

Picking someone living also comes with its own problems; I remember this exercise at school and one lad picked Jimmy Savile for his charitable work.

Who would you say for Britain?

I'd say Nigel Farage (though he's a politician), Tim Martin (revived the British pub via Wetherspoons) and would struggle for a third.

must be some german porn stars still living, they are personalitys of a sort.

How about hans out of the hans and lotte books from o level german. Although to be honest, lumpi the dog outshone both of them.

If he wants top marks he should choose some SJW/feminist the write gushingly about them, while being sarcastic, ive noticed that SJW/feminist dont seem to notice that.

Joseph Ratzinger?  (not so famous in Britain, but worldwide probably the most famous once-member of the Hitler youth still alive)

Even more say he was Austrian...

What about a footballer? They're easy enough to write about although most of them seem to be new Germans.

If it were me id choose that Nazi hereditary art thief guy. Think he's still alive.

This is the Germans problem they Germans have when trying to create an empire, they fail to realise you need charm and personality to get the nations they wish to control on side.

All these fuckers have is debt to get nations buying their over priced cars, and threats of no more debt if they kick up a fuss.

Should have nuked the fuckers at the end of WW2.

anecdote alert:

at work i found your average german to have an air of superiority, right arrogant pricks.

In practise i found them sub par and living off an earlier meme of the 'industrious hard working german', no imagination, no sense of humour, not even that good at their job but very willing to take a sick month, yes month, off on full pay and then find a better paid job in the meantime. I used to hate the yanks i worked for in the past, but at least they would call a spade a spade, the germans have all been conniving lazy cunts. Maybe i had a poor batch or the sample size was too low, quite possibly its just me being a twat. Anythings possible if a ginger haired virgin can be put in charge of an entire nation of cucks.

Henning Wehn has a really interesting backstory and being a German Comedian is rare as fuck.

Yes, that's a good call.

I heard him saying about coming to England to be something like media officer at Wycombe Wanderers FC.  That's an interesting move in itself.

You know it's like the man said, in the last 30 years we've had Thatcher, industrial chaos, we've fought wars all over the planet, terrorism, but we've produced Tim Berners Lee, Norman Foster, James Dyson, Richard Dawkins, Jocelyn Bell Burnell, Peter Higgs. In Germany they had brotherly love, they had social democracy and peace – and what have they done? Found a way to cheat emissions controls.

Dyson crossed my mind, I'm no fan of Dawkins, Berners Lee maybe though I heard an obituary yesterday of the two main scientists who developed fibre optic cables (Charles_K._Kao and George_Hockham) without whom you couldn't transfer enough data to make it worthwhile in the first place, I hadn't heard of JBB though she has an impressive record, Norman Foster - decent architect but who remembers architects?  Most people can only name Christopher Wren.

I'd only say two from the list: Peter Higgs and, though she's in your quote for different reasons, Margaret Thatcher.

I do however accept the point of your quote which is that civilisations achieve by having confidence and pride in themselves which resides within its members.

Germany's confidence and pride was broken by the utter defeat of WWII and endless lecturing at them since to feel guilty about their past, their civilisation, and themselves.

That's why they elected Merkel - a woman who hates Germany and its history is in charge of it.  Self-loathing expresses itself in odd ways.
