Mark Forum As Read - anyone use it?

Recommended Posts

I keep clicking this button by accident, it then marks every single thread as read. But I don't think I've ever used it as it's meant to be used, so I'm wondering if i should disable it. Does anyone here use it often?

I've used it quite a few times. Never intentionally though.

I really don't like it.

I use it regularly.

I read all the threads in which I'm interested and then mark everything read so that any further new content in a forum is genuinely new to me and I haven't already seen it and decided not to read it.

Same for me. Additionally sometimes I read on another device I'm not signed in on

How are people hitting it by accident? Is it on mobile devices/tablets etc?

It’s next to the view unread button. Easy to hit the wrong one

Now that's a function I don't use. Still is it on a mobile device or with a mouse? As someone occasionally uses a mouse with my weak hand and therefore not as accurate I rarely click on the wrong thing xD

On tablet or phone, it’s easy to do.  The unread feature is great, you can monitor all the forums at once

I have found myself getting "notification ignorance" with all these cookie notices now and don't bother reading them, I just click OK. I think that's probably how I've managed it.

How does this "forum read" function work? I would like to jump straight to the point in the thread that I last looked at, rather than having to scroll down each time - is that what it does?

Have you tried clicking the thread title not the pages? for me that takes me to the latest unread.

Always do, which takes me to last page, but I have to scroll down to find the line which shows me the point at which I had previously seen up to o.O

I tell a lie. I usually have to navigate using the button for the last numbered page: if I click on the topic title it just takes me to the first page - any ideas?

If I click the thread title it just takes me to the first post on page one. If I click the little circle/star at the left hand side of the thread title it takes me to the next unread post on that thread.

It seems to work well, and always has done, only time it doesn't is when me responding to a post sends me to the last page on that thread, meaning I have to go back to the page where the post I replied to was.

Hope that list paragraph is decipherable, let me know if not!

@Carl Fimble You fucking genius! :)

In all my time on this forum I never even noticed that little star icon 9_9

I always thought, this forum is quite good, if only they had the function of jumping to the last unread post in a thread, it would be awesome, haha!

The star indicated it's a thread you have already responded to, the circle appears otherwise.

I've got mad dosboddin' skillz yo!
