Have we got everywhere covered? England

Recommended Posts

Just for interest do we cover the country?  Quote the list from the preceding post and cross off the one in which you primarily live.

I suspect that our professional Yorkshireists are like professional Scousers - i.e. despite banging on about it endlessly they all actually live in the south east of England so Yorkshire may be the last one left uncrossed.

And f a bit of interest, if you know any, note any interesting facts about your county.

These are the proper counties so none of this Avon or Humberside nonsense.  It would be great to have somebody living in Rutland.

  1. Bedfordshire
  2. Berkshire
  3. Buckinghamshire
  4. Cambridgeshire
  5. Cheshire

Surrey.

In 1881 Godalming was the first town in the world to have a public electricity supply.

Surrey is the most wooded county in England with 22.4% coverage compared with the national average of 11.8%, it also has "the oldest untouched area of natural woodland" in the UK (around Box Hill).

But nobody wants it :Jumping:

I'll take it but take umbridge at it being classed as one so:

10a. East Riding of Yorkshire (although I was born in Humberside :Sick1:)

We are the most progressive county in' land, having single-handedly abolished slavery and allowed a woman to fly herself to Australia.

Think it would be interesting to add the countries for the International Brigade.  I'm feeling triggered not being represented!! :PissedOff:

Think you'll have to wait for a future poll (after Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have been covered).

Not sure why TGG has numbered his 10a instead of 39a :P

Alphabetical (but I should have put 11a).

I didn't want the thread to be too big or it just gets lost.  I am aware that there are Welsh, Scots and NI counties also as well as other countries.

These are the historic ones.  I know that there are regional anomalies so London splits between Middlesex (north of the river) and Surrey and Kent (south) and Bristol between Somerset and Gloucester and was even a City and County of Bristol at one stage.

Number 2 Berkshire Hunt. Born in Lancashire which is the Chosen Territory of God's Earth.

I would never admit it to a Yorkshire person but Lancashire is mostly full of shit holes so I'm very happy in posh Windsor ascot polo club land.
