Great non-contemporary songs

By which I don't mean Ian McCullough covering September Song but rather things that are before the pop / rock and roll era.

A good version of The Sun whose Rays are all Ablaze, from the Mikado as featured in Topsy Turvy.  I slightly prefer the Valerie Masterton version but I can't embed that video.

Beautiful song.

An older classic, featured and done well as the intro for Sharpe:

Over the Hills and Far Away

As used in that superb X-Files episode on the ship with the Smoking Man playing a Nazi.. I'm not normally one for that "big band" sound but I love this.

Think Jonathan Creek and Mr. Tourette from "Modern Toss".

This certainly predates modern rock and pop ;) Love it. Classical with "attitude", a wonderful piece of music.

This article notes inspite of Jimmy's skill and great sound  his appearance was "funereal".

So the stiff movement of the neck and slight mouth movement like a ventriloquist dummy is his trademark and not( as I thought) the fact he is feeling unwell.:/
