On the ignore list already.

And this forum is so much the better for it. The 'ignore' list - I can highly recommend it.

It's the cyberspace equivalent of a "safe space" for snowflakes. By not using an ignore list you develop the mental fortitude to actually ignore the spiteful and the foolish.

Valuable life skills.

Au contraire. It's akin to not dealing with dickheads. Take it from me, my life - and my involvement with this new forum - is supremely enhanced by not having to deal with these 'school kid' tossbags.

Agreed. Lest we forget.

I was, for little while, a "Global Moderator" on Asia's worst expat forum, ThaiVisa. BKKAndrew will know what I'm talking about.

The scars, the mental scars well, they heal in the end. Not been on a forum full of tossers for over two years now. That said, I don't use forums much now, so I essentially put the World on ignore.

Respect to you Parry. I had been a part of the old HPC for a long time under various guises. I remember the old days of Dr Bubb, Realist bear and Jonathan Davis. The HPC forum back then was a tonic. But then FUBRA happened. That is why this new forum is such an exciting thing to be part of. But one thing I am quite adamant is that no 'bullies' from the old HPC will have any bearing on my involvement in this forum. They are straight on to the 'ignore list'. All the best to you.

. . . and to you my Bruv.

I vaguely remember some financial BS'ers on that site. Never really bothered outside the OT, it was all too miserable . . . and confusing, I didn't really know what the hell any of them were banging on about in any case.

I've never bothered with putting anyone on an ignore list, wouldn't know where to find it really. Obviously that's not to say I don't value some posters contributions more than others and no-one's ever wound me up but it just doesn't really bother me that much.

Eh?

I've been keeping an eye out for twats like Mortgage Bitch, Spinwheel, Popgun and EssKay but haven't spotted any yet.

Anybody like that flag on the Poster Watch thread because if they're annoying you, rather than just boring you, they're probably annoying aot of others as well so just get banned.

This isn't HPC where for whatever reason the mods always backed them.

I thought we had one but paged back through their posting history and it was reasonable, they just had a slightly odd posting style.

I've only used it once in order to avoid having to scroll through pages and pages of posts by someone who was very active but never seemed to have anything different to say. If I actually dislike someone I'd prefer to read their posts rather than hide them away - if something provokes a reaction in me then the reaction is generally mine to deal with, not the person who provoked it.

That said, you're all a nasty bunch of meanies and I've put the lot of you on ignore now. I'm in my safe space if anybody wants me.

The ones I named, and that type of post has seen me variously banned or warned on HPC, are not people with whom I happen to disagree. I disagree with Knock out Johnny and The Crashing Isles but I wouldn't dream of putting them on ignore.

No, these people are only posting to snipe, provoke, criticise, shut down debate and generally wreck things. Those who were on UF will remember Ventriloquist.  They usually reference "free speech", " echo chamber ", " this forum" in their posts if challenged in the pretence that they merely have an alternative view rather than being the vandals that they actually are.

Weirdly I got much more irritated by certain posters when I was only occasionally reading rather than compulsively posting. I missed the whole Brexit shebang but man, did that bring some arseholes out of the woodwork. Some proper actual old school trolls of the type that I thought had ceased to exist. If I could have put Isles, Renting and Johnny on ignore at that point I probably would have done. I did feel that some decent moderation wouldn't have come amiss there.

The only other topic that left me uneasy was the Shoreham air crash one. It troubles me that it's still up there for relatives of the victims to potentially stumble across.

Yep, totally understand - I wasn't terribly active in HPC OT so just left it alone when people got up to that sort of stuff. But I could see myself using the function in that instance.

Funny that you reference the same two as me!  Though despite my extreme Brexitism (I genuinely would be well into planning my emigration had the vote been lost) I knew they were both long standing decent posters and I was only being annoyed by them because they had such a different view to me.

Not used it often but there were a few, those that were consistently obnoxious got the treatment as life is too short for that shit. Also anyone who posts images of porn/gore without spoiler or warning tags got immediately binned. People who actually need telling that doing that is out of order on a public forum, aren't worth talking to IMO.

You'd get a long holiday on most forums for that.

I thought they were a bit too gleeful in their antagonism, but it might just have been my reading of it.

No, I think you're right but they were just doing it on that one topic because they were bitter at having lost, and I did say that to Crashing.

Generally though they were both positive contributors up for debate and hence a world away from the twats.

Hah! I blocked him too! I don't tend to use it unless the poster is exceptionally tedious or needlessly offensive. Nice to have it there though.

Me three. If you're going to just say the exact same thing over and over again then at least keep it to below 10k words.

I've never blocked anyone on the original HPC forum, but there's one or two in particular who haven't made it over here and who I really hope don't make it over here.

Naming no names of course ;)

Flag them on poster watch, then they get banned, then sit back and watch them bitch about freedom of speech on the other site and smile.

I would like to see DTMark, CCC, Hotairmail plus a load of other regulars over here.

And seeing as some of the disappeared are making a comeback I'd like to see Jimothy and his award winning avatar back.
