Ive got 2 metro bank pens and a canvasy

The woman who gave it to me looked like stripper whod go all the way in  a booth for an extra 20. I thinkthats where the yrecruited her

I think its disgusting that they recruited this alluring young women purely because she looked like she could suck a golf ball through a hose pipe for small change. Please let us know exactly which corner in which shopping centre so I can be sure to avoid it...

Metro Bank

Down another 28% today to about 15.80 year high 40.56

Hmm a little worrying if you have deposits there. Clearly one is protected but the share price of a bank shouldn’t swing around like that. What was the news?

Someone has noticed that they've got a pile of risky debt on their books and have changed the risk-weighting accordingly.  As a result, there's an assumption that they could be going to issue some new shares to raise cash soon.  The share drop probably indicates how much cash they'll need (albeit the drop will be a bit overdone because that's how worry works).

News

One thing that interests me is that they are part of Hargreaves Lansdowne's new Active Savings scheme. I like the idea but don't have money there, just look at the banks... woof... woof....

Risk Capital Partners is a PE outfit

That Luke guy made his money from it.

Risk Cpaital partners is venture capital holding co.

Sortof different - manly tax releif Id guess.

Interstign as it covers the story of PVas it was originally, followed by how it goes under LJ control, to the listing.

LJ bouhgt 80% stake in 2006 for 6.4m.took over more over the years, floated in 2014, blew up in 2018.

Same story will occur for companies like Bills, misc burger cetc etc.

PE/VC buy out a small successful company, operate for a bit to get revenue up, float it, goes bang.

All eateries suffer from the same problem - large revenues, tiny profits. And being able to have their books messed  with to look better than they are.

Stuff like coffee is a better bet - much hgher margins, smaller price polint.

@spygirl Interesting. I haven't ever been in a PV but going by the comments online and from friends etc they all say the same thing, the customer service / customer experience was absolutely dire. That must have something to do with it too.

They went around 2010.  This was the 'we don't believe that the business model is flawed' bankruptcy.

[it is nothing to do with Brexit.  They went bankrupt because they served their customer worse than their competition.]

How does uncertainty prevent people from popping to the off-licence to buy some booze?

Oddbins are having a laugh. They are just sh*t business running a dinosaur business model that is going extinct.

Shoe retail chain Treds went into administration earlier this month.

Signs that something is 'a-foot' in the economy???! :P

The shop in the image looks f**king grim, hardly entices you in. Can't imagine those sorts of places will last long. You'd have to be bonkers to want to start a shop up now. Can see a lot of consolidation of that market as they bunker down (probably all to be bought out by Sports Direct when they go bust).

Thanks for that. I'm looking at other stories on there and the one that jumped out to me was the one about 400 jobs a day lost from retail.

https://www.retailgazette.co.uk/blog/2019/02/400-jobs-day-axed-turbulent-christmas/

[edit] Also the vacancy rate has increased to nearly 10%

Sports Direct has got to be screwed big time once the Brexit is done. First time some EE agency wage slave demands a pay rise and there's no longer a queue of human desparation outside to take his place it's game over. They'll have Benitez packing boxes on 100k a week.

Flybmi the regional airline has gone into administration.

Not surprising as @Sideysid pointed out in 2018 they flew 522,000 passengers on 29,000 which means an average of just 18 passengers per flight.

The removal of various socialist scams including emissions trading finished their uneconomic business off.

You've not been keeping abreast of the recent news.

All stag parties to Europe after March 29th will be killed. Twice.

This is good, should mean a vastly improved dosbodder to single white female ratio?

You do mean it’s the stag that will be killed?
