Brexit - the oz point of view

Recommended Posts

That's very good, but it's pure Brexiteer fantasy to suggest that the UK could just dictate the terms of any deal. They couldn't, the EU have been adamant from the start that they meant to make sure the UK position was worse on the outside than in, to discourage others - but she's right to suggest they should have tried and should have openly planned for no-deal to show they meant business.

Also something odd about the way she's talking at the beginning, as if she's a robot.

Why could we not have stood our ground and adopted a tough negotiating stance?

We could have. And should have. All the while planning for no-deal. (That bit is where the treasonous May failed utterly and deliberately)

But it's fantasy to suggest the EU would have to accept it.

You are right, but that's framing it wrongly.  It was the view of anyone with half a brain that in a negotiation like this you start by saying to the EU: We will go into WTO rules on 30th March 2019.  Now, lets work out which bits YOU want to do differently.

Rather than: OH MY GOD TELL US WHAT YOU WANT AS WELL AS 59 BILLION POUNDS PLEASE.  Which seems to have been treason may's approach.

Ive shifted from expecting deal brexit to no deal brexit being likely.

Europe - meaning French politics and German miney - have got the dynamics of brexit wrong.

Uk is too big and cash positive tutor and a massive safety valve for europes fucked up youth employment not to not matter.

Europe have lost a stroppy medium sized cash positive relatively manageable member and gained a massive 'not french' hanseitic group who are going to destroy europe as is

Weve also got an army thats been in bato since ww2.

As domeone tweeted - amazed that germany ibsesses about tjing tgat dont matters and does not address important stuff - russia china etc.
