what a fucking disaster

They have got it back, dealer swapped the ignition coils round, reset the engine management and did a software 'upgrade'.

They got the thing back, put it in reverse and the cameras don't work, any of them along with the towing pack software.

Sent it back, had to leave it overnight with the battery disconnected, next day it should be OK as all the computers would reset and talk to each other but they didn't.

They then decide there is a 'bad module', two days later its not fixed as there are no 'modules' available as spares and no estimated delivery.

Sounds like the dealer fucked it up when they 'upgraded the software'.

New Defender is better off-road than the old Defender as long as the computers work and enthusiastic amateurs don't get carried away.

Other than that there is not much point to it over the old Discovery.

Try and ignore the irritating Brummie.

This gets more interesting, the original white Defenders Ingenium engine is toast with JLR wanting to replace it as it is 'operating outside its design parameters' with less than 200 miles on the clock. Offered a new engine but declined, so car is swapped for a blue one, the dealer then gets car in and damages the wiring harness (fitting JLR accessory winch) which is apparently irreplaceable once damaged so car is not delivered. Now waiting for a third Defender.

This crosses with the car-complexity thread.

Would not like to be hoseing down the inside of the new one after it’s had a couple of sheep in it.
