If you're not German or Dutch, apparently the square root of f*ck all, at least in economic terms:

For some context,I post a couple of bits.Hard to disagree with the thesis.Germany's trade surplus was always going to create deficits and debts elsewhere. It was an awful idea in 1999,and even worse now, 20 years on.What were they thinking?

'BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany and the Netherlands have benefited enormously from the euro over the 20 years since its launch, a study has found, while for almost every other member the single currency has been a serious drag on economic growth.

Over the entire period since 1999, Germans were on average estimated to be cumulatively richer by 23,000 euros ($26,000)than they would otherwise have been, and the Dutch 21,000 euros wealthier. By contrast, Italians and French were each 74,000 euros and 56,000 euros poorer respectively.'

A zero sum game.  Has to be despite what the snake oilers like to spout.  The Germans ultimately will either have to use that "robbed" wealth to patch up the holes, with interest, or do a runner.  European Community?  Really!  Cant't believe the French are worse off!  EC = Canute economics!
