Generic TV music

This is driving me insane.

My missus is into all the Bones/CSI (insert place name here) stuff, which is fine, but all I hear in the background is this generic slushy hum, and it never stops. It's some bloke on a keyboard with some dodgy string samples getting one take to add minor=bad/sad, major=good/happy. No thought or real skill involved.

Remember the great themes and incidental music you used to get - Starsky and Hutch, Columbo, Cagney and lacey, Hawaii 5-0.

The music is shite now and that's not cos I'm getting older. It's just an afterthought rather than being integral to the show.

Incidental music was used to great effect in ATVs thriller running from 1973 to 1976 to ratchet up the tension, my formative years.

The 70s was a good time for television themes as per previous post. Also some staggeringly good classical compositions. King's Black Beauty from 1972 reminiscent of the best work of the late great John Barry, unfortunately he wasted it on a television series for young girls as opposed to a Hollywood blockbuster so will never get the recognistion it deserves and probably left King a few million short on royalties.

This was played on Jamie Cullum's Jazz Show once. I liked it.

American Gods is back on Amazon, first series wasn't bad but there was the odd episode where the score and incidental music pretty much ruined it. Really odd.

Theme and incidental music to Robinson Crusoe is pure nostalgia for summer holidays from the days of yore. The flute music at one minute, third change in the suite below, is the pick imo.

Having recently watched the whole series on youtube, no chance this will get aired on mainstream tv again, very unpc.
