'Unbelievably offensive' Home Office letter quotes bloodthirsty bible verses to 'prove' Christianity is NOT a religion of peace as it rejects asylum bid by Iranian convert who wanted to stay in Britain

This anti Christian stuff is just in our faces now. The banning kf crucifixes in the workplace. The targeting of Christian bakers. So many turned a blind eye or, like some of the LGBTQ lot, sneered.

I keep saying it - who is working in this public departs like the Home Office, Immigration, BBC, etc, with their positive discrimination policies.

People claiming to belong to a religion (whether Of Peace or not) need very careful watching as they are eventually guaranteed to be a threat to normal people.

Well whatever, I certainly expected better than this from the Home Office. I don't pay my taxes for them to amuse themselves playing "our fairy story is more violent than your fairy story nyaa nyaa" with random foreign people.

The sad thing is that the civil servant who wrote this probably wasn't a Muslim - in my experience Muslims who reach that level of public office are generally quite respectful of Christianity - but is more likely to be some self-hating cultural marxist whose understanding of Christianity is largely based on what he or she read in a Dawkins book.

What's even sadder is that, had this been a civil servant selecting passages of the Koran to show that Islam is not a religion of peace, he or she would now be out of a job and quite possibly dead as well.

The book of Christianity is the New Testament.  Most of the quotes are Old Testament and not directly relevant.

The quote from Matthew is sort-of relevant, but should really always be quoted in terms of the verses that follow (because it is misleading on its own).

From the article

Stephen Evans, chief executive of the National Secular Society told the Independentit was 'wholly inappropriate' for the Home Office to use 'theological justifications for refusing asylum applications'.

but logically, it is appropriate as the asylum seeker was using his conversion to Christianity as the basis for his claim.

Stephen would have been better arguing that religion should play no part in decision making in a civilised society

It's not a good omen is it - and what was the religion of those who decided to quote those bits.  Apart from that which churches preach that stuff to the general populace as literal in 2019.

Couldn't they have quoted similar stuff to the ISIS fighters who they allowed to gain entry.
