Frenchies composing and singing in English

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

There are a few French groups that compose and sing in English rather than French. It seems to be accepted these days. H-Burns is probably the most international, other stuff is a bit weird. I've not looked at French rap.

Superb MILF in the H-Burns video.

H-Burns from Valance

Fantastic Mister Zguy Shrimp Fishery

Cocoon from Clermont Ferrand with the classy Morgane Imbeaud

and nearly 15 years later Morgane is heading into early middle age but still crooning in English

Personally I'm not a great fan of hearing English/American songs sung by Frenchies.

Tbh it’s difficult to sing in a foreign language, I always refuse to do French songs at karaoke, it’s embarrassing enough in English these days as when drunk I sometimes forget my range has diminished so can’t sing the same songs as before.

So I quite admire Froggies who can sing well in English, that said there aren’t many that can, the many horrible attempts at doing so make the French version of the Voice unwatchable.

I had ze Voice in mind. It is truly awful apart from the odd Quebecois who can sing in English like the charming Gabrielle Labege. Cocoon have s new song out which is not bad. They compose and sing exclusively in English.
