Co-Living in St Ives

At last, a new development of co-living apartments is nearing completion in St Ives.

Originally, intended as an affordable living space for workers in the town, the developers obtained planning permission by promising the rooms would only be let to residents with a local connection. Of course the original developers went bust, so rumours are spreading throughout the town that the original planning permission is no longer valid.

Perhaps, they'll be let to new arrivals to the country?  Best part of £6m, if you want to buy.

£500k a flat or to rent at £3000 pcm (ie £600 x 5).  i wonder if someone might try that ie rent a few as communal but consider renting them (or selling them) as a large single flats on the quiet.

Just a quick check on rightmove and St Ives big flats (eg 3 beds or more) are very pricey.

Obviously planners wouldn’t be happy…..

Obviously, this is the problem.

St Ives has a local ruling, that means new-builds must not be sild as second homes or holiday lets. A ruling that is flouted openly by investors.

I'm not sure that individual apartments are available to boy at £500k, but the developer has a White Elephant on his hands. Do they sell or do they rent?  Note also, only one parking space per apartment.

Disgusting filth these planners! Whatever happened to all men are created equal with a right to the pursuit of happiness? (If moving to St. Ives is your bag).

You Brits with your “to the manor born” ideas about how the lower orders should be prevented from owning property really disgust me.
