Sort of.

The HE./education blob is robbbing students blind.

We are missing a market maechnism that will end the likes of, say, Fulcester FE college offering a law degree t osonme grownth 3 GCSES.  that wll cost UKGIV ~60k and the student 10% oftheir earnign voer the next ~35y of their life, even if they onyl work in MaccyDs.

Acutally law is a good test.

How many students do a law degree?

How many people go on to complete a training contract?

Set the the funding for law degreres to the nubmer of TC x 2, to allow some wiggle room.

Universities are only following government directives.  50 percent of all young people in HE. Bonkers target, especially when they have sacrificed good quality vocational education to focus on it.

Plenty of reports though. Government shapes policy by producing reports. Not even green or white papers. Just some dirge spewed out by some board.

Caravan Monster

As a student in the nineties, I went to view a potential accommodation in a student house in Garstang iirc . Most student housing was shit back then, but this building was semi derelict and the arrangements would only appeal to very community minded people. The top floor was given over to 'bedrooms' where the farmer had divided up the floor with fabric sheets hanging off rails, to fit in as much livestock as possible xD It would have been like sleeping in a dormitory or hospital ward. Even back then parents were buying up cheap houses to house their little dears for the duration and recouping the cost by renting rooms to other students.

This property in my city, Gloucester, only exists with a an annual income of £21,000 because of student loans.

I think it's immoral to rob from the future of young people so they can live in a converted outbuilding with no living space.

You have to realize thanks to Thatcher & bliar & every regime scumbag since, we are in a global marketplace.

The reference point is not the UK in the relative glory days of the 1990s, but this.

Belfast is building nothing but massive student housing blocks, hundreds upon hundreds of privately managed rooms that cost almost as much to rent as a one bed flat would.

There seems to be the expectation that there will never be a shortage of students wanting to pay big money to stay there.

There was another block planned that got rejected recently that would have had 795 rooms alone.

I think the whole town is going to resemble those big blocks out of Judge Dredd full of Asian students in a few years time.

I think the numbers of asian (well chinese students at least) are dropping. Expect millions more nigerians.

The main difference is 2% of chinese students bring dependents. 85% of nigerian 'students' bring dependents.

So they'll build student blocs. But within a year there will be endless shrieking of 'shortage of family social housing'

I dont really see the number of chinamen dropping. But the student numbers suggest they are, and the census agrees, that outslde of a few of the usual destinations for chinamen ( cambridge etc) there are actually fewer chinese in 2021 than 2011.

Perhaps its all Hkers im seeing & they dont identify as chinese on the census.

St Johns in Worcester is horrificly priced for normal people.

HMO is shit. Students 50% of the population of the Teens in UK and HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of foreign students mean massive demand for housing.

All threads lead to one....

A student nurse fears she may be forced to quit her university course due to cost of living pressures.

Claire Akaeze studies at the University of Worcester but said if support from home ended she would have to look for a full-time job instead.

Fewer chances to get part-time jobs and travel costs are making it difficult, the Nursing and Midwifery Council said.

...

Ms Akaeze is in the second year of her course at the university and came to the UK from Nigeria to get a more "internationally recognised" nursing qualification.

You mean scam then?

Here she is, eating pot noodles n beans.

If support from home ends then she needs fuck off back there.

And a fine for the 'Uni' for allowing someone without the money in.
