Here's an example of how important they are.  This cheers me up now and then, but I'm not sure if the Austrians are setting the best example atm!

Reminded me of this brilliant video:

Tin foil hats at the ready but, manufactured crisis? 🤔

Yes why is this happening all of a sudden when the world is open, but 18 months ago when they shut everything down there was no trouble getting anything you wanted .. apart from bog roll.

Its like the tanker driver "shortage".

Plenty of drivers week 1-38, week 39: oh fuck there's no one to drive the tankers!

Where did they go? Was there a Rapture that only took 20% of tanker drivers to heaven?

Saw this from Davy.

So if he is right, he's the man, if he's wrong, then he is full of shit and making calls for the sake of making calls ... i presume it'll be the latter!

or silver? :-))))

Interestingly, that’s exactly the asset I had in mind when I started thinking about this.

You buy a grand’s worth of silver, then the pound collapses after a period of spiralling inflation which distorts the effective conversion rate of £ to JIZ.

Therefore when you sell your silver for 10 JIZ, their computed purchase price using the distorted conversion rate is, say, 1 JIZ and pretty much the entire sale is treated as capital gains.

Combine that with the incumbent government panicking and hiking up CGT to eye watering levels to help balance the books and your silver ends up being next to worthless.

Only if you use/sell physical through "official" channels...

Some can be naive/unrealistic/overtly trusting granted, but so can a lot of the electorate...for evidence of this just look at the referendum/Covid/elections/wars...do you think teenagers could do any worse than most of the current front bench?....don't underestimate the young just because they have fewer years, its the ability to think critically, and this doesn't necessarily come with years/experience!

So you want even more socialism?!

If JIZ is a digital currency that already risky route becomes even trickier.

One way around that would be to buy exposure to silver in an ISA.  No CGT.

Are there any products with physical allocation of silver that can be held in an ISA?

I’m thinking about currency collapse rather than breakdown of society, so you still want to convert your physical into cash rather than beans and bullets.

Good point about the CGT-free coins, I always forget about that.

WisdomTree Physical Silver (GBP) PHSP .. You don't actually get to put your name on anything Physical and not been a great investment, like the whole PM sector TBH

But is this problem due to a shortage of butchers? Or is it really another example of supply chains being ultra-efficient at the expense of being anti-fragile?                                                                                                                                        The article itself cites supermarkets not able to take delivery of farm pigs over a certain age because their own processing lines can't cater for larger size pigs. I was listening to a radio report today that mentioned this problem mainly only affects large suppliers because the small/local farmer/butcher partnerships are not automated and can thus handle any size of pig! ...are we really facing existential threats from meat packing plants!!... things really are beginning to get rediculous.

Precisely, those vote results for Brexit, and other charades, etc, amply show how weak a state our 'democratic' system is already in, so why introduce more talking heads to cause just more chaos and division? After all it is not as though these school age teenagers you mention are known for their critical thinking, in fact in recent years they more and more have exhibited all kinds of logical fallacies and cognitive biases, not to mention an almost self inflicted kind of predilection for mental illness - I blame their teachers of course, or am I being too reductive?

Just overbearing authoritarian busy bodies doing their thing? Or a sign of how serious they think this is?

Although i think 20C is very generous. I set the dog on people if they put my thermostat past 17C.

"Put a bloody jumper on you fanny!". 🤷‍♂️

And yet the UK governments Covid Winter Plan A states that windows should be left open to increase ventilation/stop spread....wonder (with the current fuel crisis) how long this will last before they find some more statistics/`science` that shows it is unnecessary?
