Nope - it's a sign of the Government not regulating things properly so the owners borrowed money (to take profits early) and can no longer repay the money old.

The bondholders need to be told sorry but it's your problem..

This is a major problem the UK faces. lack of Maintenance. All physical assets have been neglected up and down the country and typifies and reflects the thinking and attitudes of successive governments in the the get rich quick at the expense of long term structured thinking.

With respect to waterboards the purse string holders has probably seen the cost of building new reservoirs and replacing a crumbling infrastructure system that is probably 100 years old and thought sod this no money in it and are now passing the buck to government.

Seems irrefutable that a company collapsing that supplies the most important of all basic needs to 1 in 4 of the population  is a serious sign of a countries ill health.

Every single bloody thing in the UK has been financialised, and has already had the most optimistic estimate of all the future cashflows wrung out of it.

Collapse, as we all know already, is nailed on.

Most of London's population won't be too bothered about queueing at standpipes or buying bottled water anyway, given their countries of origin.

3% margin business...ouch.

I reckon Wilko is about to implode soon. Everytime I go there half the shelves are empty, I'm guessing suppliers are no longer giving them credit as they must know they are in bad shape. Popped in today and even their soft drinks section was bare. I'm not surprised they are starting to hit the rocks, their staff are nearly all arrogant and lazy, they seem to think they get paid to stand around and chat to each other while ignoring customers. But as they say the fish stinks from the head down so i'm guessing this is indicative of what their head office is like.

I'm losing track of the property developers, building companies, and fringe retailers (i.e. bath bomb shops) imploding over here in Oz.  The interest rate rises are wiping over leveraged cunts out, and fraud is being exposed/alleged in a lot of them.

This one in the Australian today...shared for educational purposes.

Few months ago driving down an A road in the sticks drove past what was quite a large impressive old pub. Massive sign on the side saying it's now one of these new bath bomb/scented candle type manufacturers. Boggles the mind really, still seems to be no end of women willing to pay £10 for a smelly candle. I imagine the margins are superb, 10p of wax and some essential oils and sell it for 100x. Found it:

Such a shame, another bit of our heritage gone.

OH dealing with an American company who say they are short of cash and can't send goods out without being paid upfront, but are already behind in delivering goods already paid for

Well that's a reversal of how things normally go.  I'd definitely not send them any more money until the latest goods have arrived.

Which industry is this? Raw/core materials, or finished goods gone through so many layers of manufacturing/finishing?

Cheers. The DOSBODs hive mind called it right again. I was gonna see if I could short it but then realise it's a private company, shame could of made some nice coin.

Last time I was in there I caught a staff member at the back of the store hiding behind a stock trolley drinking from a flask. Reckon she was on the sauce. What a shit hole.

Am I the only person who never buys anything from these places? It's like they're setup to serve a clientele I had no idea existed. I pop into them now and then and just think what a load of cheap junk everything is and walk out.
