Lots of new jobs for NE not. Telegraph today.

Britishvolt workers lose jobs

The majority of Britishvolt's roughly 300 workers have been made redundant after the electric car battery maker entered insolvency, administrators EY have confirmed.

Dan Hurd, joint administrator and partner at EY Parthenon, said:

Britishvolt provided a significant opportunity to create jobs and employment, as well as support the development of technology and infrastructure needed to help with the UK's energy transition.

It is disappointing that the company has been unable to fulfil its ambitions and secure the equity funding needed to continue.

Our priorities as joint administrators are now to protect the interests of the company's creditors, explore options for a sale of the business and assets, and to support the impacted employees.

The approval for power has already been done as the battery factory also needed a shed ton of it.

its the availability of power that makes the data Centre vaguely viable without that it’s little different from the previous failed attempts to build them up north - yep staff costs are slightly cheaper but the bandwidth costs counteract that.

however AI requires vast amounts of power so you need to put the data Centre where power is available - hence Blyth.

so yep the place will be filled but there won’t be the promised jobs

It's a data center. The high paying jobs can be anywhere, certainly not in high tax UK.
