They are turning trade vans into stealth campers. No loo, hence the pissing and shitting in the streets. :Sick1:

There is no way around it, for anything more than a day van weekender it is necessary to have ventilation. Breathing, wet clothes and cooking on gas introduce a lot of water vapour. Without ventilation that quickly turns to rust and mould.

It's possible to cut an intake hole in the floor, with a diesel heater (quiet ones are expensive) input in heating or fan mode with air extraction points high piped out through the floor as a warm humid air exhaust, but few will bother to do that.

One of the vans has an expensive (large ply sized?) high profile roof rack. For a stealth camper they'd at least have a wind powered extractor. Lots of trades (painters, chemicals) vans use them, but few campers. Like a Flettner slimline: https://www.flettner.co.uk/products/flettner-slimline-lpv-ventilator/

ETA: another stealth ventilation method is 'front window wind deflectors' and cracking the front windows down a cm:

I only have very fond memories of Scabby, all our family holidays were there as a kid (many moons ago) usually in the same B&B. Dad hired a car (Ford Anglia) and off we went. Penny fountains in the arcade, Hispaniola boat (some sort of treasure hunt?), a water shute  and some sort of war recreation thing with model ships shooting at each other in Peashome park.

Not to mention the Knickerblockerglorys at that cafe on the north bay, followed by strawberry waffles.

Looks like I shouldn't go back if I want to preserve those memories

Are you fancying a move

Can't at the moment, no.

Bt possibly looking to combine somewhere cheap in the UK with winters in Morocco in the longer term. No way would I live anywhere in the north of the UK in winter, the so-called summer is bad enough!

When you see what some of this stuff is selling for today, it must be baghead-land, after all, the town isn't that unattractive, and if the water companies could be strongarmed into not filling the sea with shit it'd have a decent couple of (albeit chilly) beaches.

It’s a weird place. Lots of very nice properties but a real dive in the centre.

This just sold for 74k.

Lot Overview (allsop.co.uk)

Scabby must be really bloody scabby, it's a short walk to the railway station, beaches etc, that'd be worth a lot more if the town was liveable.

It's what Ive saying the property forum.

The number of young people with good jobs- and there's a fair few-  nurses, teachers, etc, trades n shift workers are just overwhelmed by the number of probate houses.

There's no need or inclination to live in central terraces, lost to scum n balkans.

Roughly, Filey Rd south out of town is nice.

My brother got a 4 br house before he got married. Refurbed, near 6th form. Garage big garden, shed. 160k in 2012ish - StepneyRd.

Household income of 70k,

Got divorced n lost it.

But if he'd kept it, fixed for 5y he could have got outstanding mortgage down under 100k before fix ended - if it wasnt for his lazy ex .....

Around the hospital n sixth form is great.

Anywhere North of the sea cut, and about 1 mile south of sea cut.

Just 'drive'around on Google maps.

Bit weird, so the scummy bit is all the bit that ought to be the best, around the beaches and castle. Even the beach is one of the (literally) shittiest in the UK thanks to the water company.

The opposite of an old French town, where typically the old centre is nice, and the surroundings are shite.

Look at this - it looks as genteel as you like. But nearly all those houses are HMOs.

My mate lives in a converted Victorian house on castle road. The views are to die for but it’s druggy central, imported in from the surrounding large conurbations.

Is that right?

https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/housing-and-homelessness/private-renting/houses-multiple-occupation/houses-multiple-occupation-scarborough

There are two licence types. Mandatory licensing which is statutory for certain houses in multiple occupation and selective licensing which is a discretionary licensing scheme we apply to all privately rented properties within a certain area

If you do a nice conversion and promise to let to nurses then you'll get an OK- and they do check tenants.

If you try and house 20 odd people like-

https://www.thescarboroughnews.co.uk/news/crime/scarborough-sex-offender-jailed-for-breaching-order-designed-to-protect-children-4348206

You'll get banned from LL list.

Garry Dover Afflick, 57, a former church-goer from Scarborough, was under a strict order not to delete his search history from any internet-enabled device, York Crown Court heard

He's a long way from being from Scabby.

And you might want to check his Church going.

Googled him yet?

I have now.  Don’t we import the best of the best.  It needs putting down

Ms Stephenson said Afflick had 32 previous convictions for 170 offences including sexual attacks against children dating back to the 1990s. These included indecent assault against a boy under 14 years of age, failing to comply with notification requirements as a registered sex offender and making indecent images of children.

In October 2017, he was jailed for 19 months for seven counts of possessing indecent images of children.

In November 2019, he was jailed for three years and four months at York Crown Court for a previous breach of the sexual-harm prevention order by befriending a family with a young child.

Afflick started offending when he was just 13 years of age, subsequently wracking up convictions for burglary, theft, public disorder, handling stolen goods, serious violence, supplying Class A drugs, kidnapping and blackmail.

In 1997, he was jailed for 14 years for indecently assaulting a boy under the age of 16, upon which he was branded a “Fagin-style” sex offender.

In 2013, at Teesside Crown Court, he was given an order banning him from having contact with boys under the age of 18.

In 2001, he was jailed for five years at Winchester Crown Court for two counts of indecently assaulting a child under 14 and a serious sex assault of a boy under 16.

Whats this nice man got to do with housing 20 odd people in a homo house?

Obviously all innocent sex offenders come from scarborough, thats common knowledge, and obviously church going is the usual sex offenders hobby.

If you were building a seaside destination from scratch today, you would restrict fun fairs and amusement arcades. They just destroy the environment,  kill house prices, prevent entrepreneurial types moving into the area and instead it attracts undesirables from neighbouring conurbations ( as mentioned by One Percent) and it becomes Bennie Central a' la' Bkackpool South Shore.

It's all about funicular railways and micropubs.
