AIUI Cyprus has non-dom status for a number of years (14 maybe?) after you first move there, so you would only pay tax on on-shore income during that time. Best to wait for citizenship though until you have exhausted that.

Cypriot passports are more appealing for wealthy people from China etc that want EU access etc.
