Effectively a flat. The only bit of garden is the grass strip on the terrace.

Yeah it's a bit eccentric.

Most of the locals treat the whole riverbank as their garden anyway. It's all well-maintained so just a very nice pleasant place to chill out.

I had a place that overlooked a canal bank.

The antisocial behaviour, drunkenness and swearing on summer evenings wasn't good.

Isn't that bathroom against planning law i.e. I though you needed a separate room with two doors separating bathroom and kitchens?

That is just what happens when a property is stale on the market and probably listed too high in the first place - natural reaction is if nobody else wants it there must be a serious issue with it, which reduces viewings straight away.  Gets worse as the months / years even go by to the pointv where the price is attractive enough for the thought process of even if there is a problem with it , it is seriously cheap and must be able to fix whatever is wrong with it,  so might as well give it a viewing.
