Nice Timbers.

Quite right! I could have sworn those were steel, the shadow even made them look like the I profile xD

Fucking hell, £708k.

I would estimate an easy £10k service charge on top.

Some plonker paid £13.5m for this house on a sandbank in Poole Harbour.

Nice seaside location, glorious on a sunny day but it highlights just how low is the strip of land on that side.

Any decent storm surge is going to flood them.

A strong one will tear away the sand on which they are built.

And remember that the land in the south of England is sinking (long term after-glacial effect) whilst the sea is rising.

You don't need to sign up to the doomsday agenda, simple projected trends will see a relative one foot rise in fifty years.  A decent storm surge will see waves breaking over those houses and gardens and crushing those sea defences like twigs.

I have been in Penzance the day after a huge storm surge about twnety years ago and saw the damage. I was going to describe it but this sums it up beautifully and looks to be from that same storm. There was a "once in a lifetime" combination of very low pressure (raises sea height substantially), strong onshore winds (raises sea height substantially), high astronomical (as in predicted by effect of the moon) tide, and very high waves which would have been raised out in the Atlantic a couple of days earlier.  Those houses you see in the background were all flooded.

Now imagine a storm like that hitting that bungalow with its "sea defences" being a fence and four courses of bricks.

I wonder what the insurance premiums are on those multi million pound houses.

A lot, I would think.

Sandbanks has a distinct feel of a conegsted industrial estate.

I do like the chain ferry - if its working - to the otehr side, then onto Swanage which is really nice.

You feel a long way - and time - away from Poole, which is a total shithole.

The only redeeming feature of Sandbanks for me, is the spot next to the ferry, great place for catching mackerel and sea bass when the tide is running.

Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole are complete shitholes, the Dorset coast only begins from Swanage Westward IMHO.

Ive had periods here Ive spendt way to long ooching aroudn BCP - just to keep me busy.

If you want a good example on why councisl daft ideas, invcolving students, igh time economy OAPs and tourism are a bad idea than BCP is the palce ...

Ive not seen a plalce offering so much potential beign totally fucked up.

Christchurch just smells of wee. Youve got the fantastic rvier - with the great fishing barge. Ruined. Pounds shop,s charity shops and mobility scooter shops.

Bmouth - gets emptier every time I go their. It gets harder work everytime  I go to shops eateries only to find theyve closed. More n more tramps and dossers.

Poole - massive council shithole dumping ground. Ditto Hamworthy.

The only bit Ive got a soft spot for is Southbourne. But yovue got to run the risk of Boscombe to get theere. Maybe thats why its so quiet and unruined.

The river Stour is nice if you follow it upstream, Dorset doesn't even start until you move North from Wimbourne, the Blackmoor Vale and the Cranbourne Chase is the best area IMHO.

I read a lot. Here there n everywhere.

Most goes into my head, never to be forgotten.

I might need a few cues to recall stuff, but its there.

And isnt it interesting how the more interesting cases tend to cross several threads.

This popped up the other day -

https://www.thisisthecoast.co.uk/news/local-news/scarborough-printer-cartridge-sellers-fined-for-misleading-advertising/

The court heard that the company directors, Laura Cooper and Lee Keenan, have provided written undertakings to the trading standards service about their future conduct in operating this or any other business.

In addition to the fine of £4,000, the company was ordered to pay £190 victim surcharge to the court and £700 in prosecution costs.

Thats a lot of money for a TS fine. They must have really been gunning for it and ripping people off far n wide.

Id also guess the TS fine is the start of a lot of claims and court cases.

I recognise that name!

I dont know these people but I do recognise the name.

Id struggle to communicate  how awful the location is. Youd have to go there in summer.

Its nowhere near the sea, next to an industrial estate, on the main road into Scabby.

Howard's Heights is a £3m contemporary “castle” that has taken over a decade to complete thanks to the determination of its owner Lee Keenan

“I have been in property development most of my life and it's something that was initially started in partnership with my father, who sadly passed away some fourteen years ago. We had done numerous projects together over the years but nothing on the scale of Howard's Heights.

Googling last night, I came across a Look at me feature -

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-7433201/More-bathrooms-bedrooms-Meet-women-flushed-pride-spa-like-homes.html

Mrs Roberts and her copper bottom bath

Rachel Roberts, 41, (left) works in marketing and lives in a five-bedroom farmhouse near Tamworth, Staffs, with her two sons, aged 12 and nine. It will soon have seven bathrooms.

Why?

This is the one -

18125464-0-image-a-108_1567719210804.jpg

Its a tranny horse!

'A bungalow, with one bathroom and one en-suite, used to stand on the plot where our house now sits. We wanted four big bedrooms and it was important each had en suites for guests.

'We also have a bathroom on the first floor, with a huge sunken Jacuzzi, which is my favourite place to relax, surrounded by candles, at the end of a long day, while our en suite with walk-in shower is perfect for speedy mornings.

Like when youve got the first court sitting?

Arrogate is a bit off my routes- turn east at Yawk.

Trying to understand this one:

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/133753784#/?channel=RES_BUY

..why in the UK when we have a 'shortage' of houses [especially for local people] does this have a stipulation that it's only to be used as a second home or holiday let?...doesn't make sense to me, especially when you get headlines such as these:

https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/waless-new-draconian-holiday-property-26608266

and this, where the property is located:

There are lots like that round here. Someone I know with a holiday let, the planning permission was only granted on the proviso that an individual person could stay for a maximum of 28 days.

Far more likely it will be set on fire.

Just pull the plug out mid channel.

Offer asylum to all migrants who can swim back to the UK.
